Hyojin Han, APRN, MSN, PMHNP-BC

Hyojin Han is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who brings a rich and diverse background to her role at Pondworks.  She is a recent graduate of the Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program at The University of Texas at Austin, where she also received a Ph.D. in Ethnic and Third World Literature.

Before transitioning to health care, Hyojin’s professional experience included teaching literature and writing, as well as working as a community mediator in Los Angeles.  As a mediator, she enjoyed helping her clients get to the roots of conflicts and establish productive dialogues.  Her study of literature and oral histories led her to believe that some of the best stories are the real life experiences of people all around her, including her patients.

Hyojin was born in South Korea and grew up in both Thailand and the United States.  Her extensive international exposure has helped her to develop a deep level of empathy for those who are working through challenging situations.  She firmly believes in supporting her patients to regain authorship over their lives and attain their true potential.

In her free time Hyojin enjoys singing, gardening and spending time with family and friends.  She strives to maintain a healthy work-life balance for herself and hopes to lead by example for her patients in that arena.

Hyojin joined Pondworks Psychiatry & Psychotherapy in August 2019.
